Missy K. Atwood has had over 20 years of experience as a trial attorney with special emphasis in health law and health care related litigation, including medical malpractice defense, and physician anti-trust claims, credentialing lawsuits, and other litigation involving health care provider clients. She represents hospitals, health care insurers, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers in all aspects of risk and claims management. She also advises businesses and represents clients in complex commercial litigation. She maintains an active practice advising clients regarding insurance coverage issues and disputes. Missy graduated cum laude from Baylor University in 1988 where she earned a B.A. in speech communication. She received her J.D. in 1991 from Baylor University School of Law, cum laude, where she was also Lead Articles Editor and Notes and Comments Editor, Baylor Law Review. Missy has published such articles as Rule 166b: The Discovery of Work Product Based on Substantial Need and Undue Hardship, 42 Baylor L. Rev. 573 (1990). She frequently presents continuing education and seminars to lawyers and healthcare providers on issues related to preventing or handling healthcare liability disputes. Missy is licensed to practice in the United States District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts of Texas. She is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. She is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the State Bar of Texas, Austin Bar Association, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, American Board of Trial Advocates and South Texas Society for Healthcare Risk Management. She was designated a "Texas Super Lawyer" in 2007-2013 by Texas Monthly Magazine for her expertise in medical malpractice litigation.

Missy practices in the areas of medical malpractice, health law (including physician credentialing, hospital bylaws, fair hearing proceedings, professional licensing and disciplinary actions), insurance coverage, general civil litigation and pharmaceutical products liability.
